I'm the co-founder and president of Foxbridge. We support the growth and success of national security technology companies.
I've held executive positions in the aerospace and defense industry. Most recently I led corporate strategy at Lockheed Martin. Prior to joining Lockheed, I was the Chief Strategy and Growth Officer of QinetiQ North America, where I also held P&L roles in QNA’s Technology Solutions Group.
I was the director of defense and intelligence programs at the US Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. At PNNL I led basic and applied R&D initiatives in intelligence, counterterrorism, nonproliferation, and advanced warfare. (And sailed the Puget Sound and hiked the Cascades.)
I had the pleasure of serving as a visiting scholar in George Washington University’s Center for International Science and Technology Policy where I wrote, researched, and taught on US and international innovation policy.
Following the 9/11 attacks I served as a presidential appointee in the US Defense Department, first as special assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations / Low Intensity Conflict, then as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Crisis Management. In the latter role I led the post-9/11 revitalization of threat forecasting, crisis action planning, and crisis management. Certainly one of my most challenging (and most rewarding) jobs.
I began my federal service leading an intelligence analysis unit at the FBI in Washington, DC. In that role I helped formed the first US interagency cyber CI analysis team and created the nation's first cyber indications and warning system.
My undergraduate degree is in political science from the University of Utah with an emphasis on Middle East studies. I earned an MS in Defense and Strategic Studies from Missouri State University, where my focus was on defense policy and strategy. I earned and a PhD from George Washington University, where my research focused on military technology innovation.
In addition to my Foxbridge work, I am on the faculty of the Missouri State University Department of Defense and Strategic Studies and I serve as an adjunct scholar at the Rand Corporation where I support national security research in the public-sector. You can find books I'm reading and reviewed at Goodreads.
